PEARL - The State Department of Education's Office of Accountability recently released District Graduation Rates and Dropout Rates for the school year that ended July 31, 2022. The data used was taken from students who entered grade nine during the 2018-2019 school year.

The report shows that the Pearl Public School District had the hightest graduation rate in the state for students with disabilities, with 91.3 percent of the PPSD students graduating. The state average graduation rate for students with disabilities was 67.1 percent.

The Pearl Public School District also ranked fifth in the state for its graduation rate for all students with 97.3 percent of that group of students graduating. Two of the school districts that ranked higher than Pearl, the Mississippi School for the Arts and the Mississippi School of Math and Science, have groups of students who are carefully selected to attend those elite schools.

"We are so very proud of the work that has been put in to reach these levels," Pearl PPSD Superintendent Chris Chism stated. "Particularly noteworthy is the exceptional graduation rate for students with disabilities, which highlights the district's commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all. These achievements are a testament to the hard work and dediation of the students, teachers and staff at Pearl High School and serves as an inspiration to the entire community."
