The National Guard has doubled down on equipment readiness after opening a new maintenance shop.
State officials, including Gov. Reeves, came together at the location in Brandon. Some of them said that these are dangerous times for America.
Mississippi leaders came together at a new National Guard maintenance shop in Brandon. It will store 1,100 pieces of military equipment.
This ]new Brandon field maintenance shop is more than just a storage unit. It also provides more than 30 job opportunities. The governor said they have a $2.2 million annual payroll.
“Whether it’s natural disaster response, relief missions, helping to secure her border or our missions overseas when our Mississippi soldiers are called into action, our Mississippi soldiers go to work,” said Reeves.
Reeves said this building is the most state-of-the-art facility in the nation.
The adjutant general of the Mississippi National Guard thanked state leaders for this new addition to the organization.
“This facility here will be the hub for the military maintenance for central Mississippi from Vicksburg to Canton to the Jackson area here, so with that in mind, so with that in mind Governor, I think we are ready to cut the ribbon,” said Maj. Gen. Bobby Ginn.
This building will also have offices, classrooms and community space for the working soldiers on the site.
