The Rankin First Economic Development Authority Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Garrett Wright as the organization’s new Executive Director. Wright was selected following an extensive national search conducted in collaboration with the Rankin County Board of Supervisors.
Wright brings more than a decade of economic and business development experience, most recently serving as Director of Economic Development and Business Development at Public Service Company of Oklahoma and American Electric Power in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His career includes leadership roles with the Bay Economic Development Alliance and the Area Development Partnership, where he supported major project recruitment and community growth strategies.
A native of Mississippi, Wright holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master of Science in Economic Development from the University of Southern Mississippi.
“Garrett is a strong leader with a deep understanding of what drives business growth in communities like ours,” said Carolyn Boteler, Board Member of the Rankin First Board of Directors. “His experience, passion for Mississippi, and clear vision for the future make him the right person to continue building on our momentum in Rankin County.”

Wright will assume his new role June 16, 2025.
